The good and bad of it...

Okay...like I said this is my therapy. I tried to start my day, but with all of these thoughts swirling around my brain, I decided I might as well get it out.

I tried to revel in my day as being the SITS Featured blogger... but all around me things seemed to be crumbling.

I made a 2 hour round trip to appear in court for a student's custody battle only to be told that the decision was already made and I wouldn't be needed. ( Not that I minded not going on the stand, but it would have been nice to know before traveling that distance!)

I got a call from my friend who had an affair on her husband. She had revealed it to him. I tried to be supportive... but it was hard considering I don't condone what she had done.

The ac guy finally shows... only to tell me my compressor went out~ i.e. $1800. Yuck!!!!!!!!!!! ...and today it is supposed to hit 90*.
He told me he would call me back this morning to tell me if it was under warrenty. I went to bed praying that it was. What else could I do? So... he calls back to say that it is BUT the company that sold it is out of business SO I would still have to pay $800 to cover shipping and handling fees.
All I can think is it's better than $1800... there goes our vacation money though. :(

My soon-to-be divorced friend just found out that her house is being foreclosed on her and it will be put up for auction next Tuesday.

And...I have this mysterious rash that has appeared all up and down my fingers that has decided to come and go for the last few days...
I googled it. It's hives. I think they first appeared the day Spencer (my ex-boyfriend) friend requested me on Facebook... and they have stuck around because he keeps texting me.

All of these things make me wonder, if in order for the world to stay balanced, since I was getting so much love yesterday, did I also have to have some pain too??

  1. Interesting thought. Good luck with your AC. I had the same issue a few years ago, in the middle of the summer and I had to stay in a hotel for a few days. I just couldn't take the heat.

  2. I think it's all the natural balance of things - you have something amazing happen, but then everything else fall apart. And, while you want to focus on the good things, it's really hard. My counselor back in the day told me this: "You're driving down the road, where there's a wreck on the right side and wildflowers in the median - you, and most of the population, look at the wreck instead of the flowers". It's so hard to look at those flowers sometimes, especially when it's a multi-car wreck on the side.

  3. I think it's great that you care about your friends so much. Try not to let all their problems take away from the good things in life.

    I'm a new follower :)

  4. I am uber late for your SITS day but wanted to come say hi anyways. Congrats and all that.

As far as karma- NAH, it's called stressing, that's what hives come from, and remember this- exes are exes for a reason, and supporting a friend doesn't mean agreeing with them, it means loving them anyways.

Sucks about your ac, though, we had to have ours fixed a while ago as well- and I am just grateful we could afford it.

    All in perspective I guess.

  5. Good luck with your AC. I hate when I have stress like that going on. My life is a lot like that lately as well!

  6. Great post...and over the years, I sort of look at life like being on a teeter-totter...when you are up, you are really up and you can stay up for as long as time will let you. Eventually, you have to come down, deal with the unpleasant stuff and then before you know it, bad stuff is done and you are soaring back up, again.

  7. Hi Dawn. I just joined the SITS girls and am stopping in a few days late to say hello. I have been bogged down with allergies so badly while trying to maintain order around the house so I know how it feels to have stuff NOT go your way! I hope this weekend is a nice break for you :0 I'm a new follower, too. Would love to have you check out my site and follow back. Blessings!

  8. Im not a big believer in the "karma" thing. I think your just over analizing stuff and stressing. Try and stress less (i know easier said than done) and your hives will go away.

  10. Ahh, the balance of Life. Although I think some other good things probably happened, but you weren't focused on them :) Anyway, I admire you. I can hear strength and tenacity within your writing. I hope today was a much better day for you love.

  11. Breathe, Dawn. Breathe.

I also do exactly what you're doing. I, too, take in what is going on in the lives of the people around me and feel overwhelmed by it. My body also reacts in a hives-manner. AND I will also be vacationing in front of a brand-new central air system this summer.

So let's make a pact. We'll both take a step back and breathe. (hahahahahahaha...I say that, but can I do it? We'll see...)

At least we had the money to fix the air conditioning, right?

  12. SITS member stopping by to say hello and congrats!

Sorry to read that your day was not shaping up as planned. And I am with you on not condoning your friend having an affair. I know a woman like that and I have to bite my tongue, or I will not fail at REALLY telling her how I feel!

Remember - for every positive there needs to be a negative so when bad things happen - look for the good things as well! :)

  14. I know I'm a little late for the party, but never late than never right? I'm visiting from SITS. I had to visit b/c I've been the single mom with 2 boys before so I knew I would LOVE it over here. And I was right! Great stuff.

I totally feel ya on the a/c. We've had problems with our upstairs unit every year we've lived in this house. This year it finally quit. Called the a/c people expecting it needing more freon since there's a leak. Well, there's still a leak but it ran out causing the compressor to burn up. $1500 later & they're ordering the part. Meanwhile, my boys are sleeping in the living room downstairs until the part is put in. Did I mention I live in Memphis & it's been over 90 for the past month?
